This year I visited Sierra Leone for the first time in my life. On arrival at Freetown International Airport, I was amazed at the warm reception of the immigration officers, the transporters, the banking staff and everyone I met. I didn’t feel like a foreigner at all. Over the next few days that I stayed, I realised that the people of this country are seated on a tourism goldmine!
Meet the Man who goes under River Nile and returns Completely Dry
Can you believe this? In 2024, I met this man somewhere on River Nile in Uganda. He said, he was born on 18th February, some 70 years ago. His father was born on the same day and that’s how they’re born. His successor, a young man was also born on the same day.
The magic behind 18th February is that on that day he comes to this spot, slaughters a sheep and serves it to the gods. The gods welcome him to the underworld! He enters the Nile water in full sight of people, local and visitors alike, goes to a beautiful city for strictly one hour and returns completely dry. He says that the city is beautiful so that when he compares it with earth, here is like trash! He claims to see so many beautiful things, and all sorts of nice people.
He even makes a claim that one day CNN people tied microphones and cameras around him. He went under water, returned with all the gadgets dry but they didn’t capture anything.
One day he returned and his wife had given birth to a baby boy. That’s his successor. But the young man will only visit the place when the old man passes on. That is what happened when the old man's father died some decades ago.
This site is just about 5 minutes drive from the entrance to Murchison Falls National Park. This is Uganda's largest national park, and one of the most beautiful places in Africa. But visitors never get to meet this gentleman. He says that on 18th February 2025, he will visit the city. He even invites everyone to serve as a witness!
What are your thoughts about this guy? Interestingly, as I was chatting with a friend about what I had discovered, he told me has seen people on Lake Victoria walking on water. He said, he saw children crawling and playing on water (Lake Victoria). He wasn't surprised that someone can go under water for an hour and return. After all, river Nile starts from Lake Victoria.

When a British Explorer, John Speke visited Buganda in the 1860s, he commented that the country was way more civilised and organised than any other place he had visited in Africa. His comments were based on what he saw for the few months he stayed in Buganda. However, there was a lot he didn't see! In ancient Buganda, music, dance and drama were not only used for entertainment, but also for education,...
As part of our commitment to a better world, we ensure that all our visitors plant a tree, among other initiatives. Over the past eight years, focus has been on both fruit and medicinal trees. From the older trees, we are enjoying the fruits, and have been privileged to serve the same fruits to our guests. As for all our visitors of 2022, there is good news! Your trees have started flowering!
